Choose which columns you see
Twelve columns is more than anyone reads. Which ones you keep depends on what you sat down to do.
The grid can show title, brand, size, price, cost, margin, profit, views, favourites, quantity, status and when it was listed.
Showing all of them at once makes the grid unreadable on anything but a wide screen. Keep the four that answer today's question.
Three sets worth knowing
| When you are | Keep |
|---|---|
| Pricing | Price, Cost, Margin, Views |
| Chasing dead stock | Listed, Views, Favs, Price |
| Doing the books | Cost, Profit, Qty, Sale |
The two that need something from you
Margin and Profit are blank until a cost is recorded, because there is nothing to calculate from. They are not broken; they are honest.
An item with no cost shows as having none rather than as zero margin, which would read as a disaster and be a lie. See add what you paid.
Quantity is only interesting with stock lines
Qty shows one for a normal listing, which is most of them. It becomes worth showing when you sell several of the same thing and have tied the listings to a stock line. See stock lines.
The columns you pick, their order and their widths are remembered on that computer, like the filters. They travel in your data backup.
