Bundles and the item that goes underwater

Vinted applies a single discount to the whole basket. Flogit spreads it across the lines and works out the margin on each.

Then it tells you which item, if any, has gone below what it cost you.

Why a flat percentage misleads

Say a buyer asks 27% off three items. On a shirt you paid 2 for and list at 12, that is comfortable. On a jacket you paid 30 for and list at 40, the same 27% wipes out the margin and then some.

Looking at the basket total tells you none of this. It looks like a reasonable haggle, and one item in it is now a loss you are subsidising with the other two.

What Flogit shows

A line per item with its share of the discount and its resulting margin, so the arithmetic is in front of you rather than in your head.

The item that goes under water is called out by name. That is the one to think about, not the total.

What to do about it

Counter on the total, at a number that keeps every line above its floor. Usually a smaller discount than they asked for and still a sale.
Suggest dropping the thin item from the bundle. Two items at a good discount often beats three at a bad one.
Take it anyway, knowingly, if clearing the other two is worth it. That is a decision, not an accident, which is the whole difference.

When a cost is missing

Flogit says the bundle margin is unknown rather than inventing a flattering number. One item with no recorded cost is enough to make the whole calculation a guess, and a guess dressed as arithmetic is worse than an honest blank.

Bundles in your sales figures

A bundle of four is recorded as four sales, each with its own cost and margin, not as one line. It is the only way the per-item numbers can be right. See collected is not the same as sold.
