Why the search is stricter than Vinted's

Vinted matches on any word. A median built on that is not a price, it is an average of unrelated things.

Search "wool overcoat charcoal 40" on Vinted and it will happily return a wool scarf, a charcoal t-shirt and size 40 boots.

All three are cheaper than a coat. Flogit filters by category and condition before calculating anything.

This is not a small effect

It is the difference between being told a coat is worth 38 and being told it is worth 12. Follow the poisoned number and you lose real money on every sale, while congratulating yourself on how fast things move.

It was measured on this product's own data: the medians were garbage before the relevance filter existed, and the cause was exactly this.

What the filter does

  • Category first, because a scarf and a coat are not comparable however many words they share.
  • Condition, because "new with tags" and "satisfactory" are different markets for the same object.
  • Then it drops what does not resemble your item on the remaining signals.

The result is a smaller sample and a truer number, which is the trade worth making. See why the sample size matters.

Tuning the search yourself

The search phrase is editable. Flogit builds it from the title and brand, and sometimes the title carries a word that is doing more harm than good: a slogan, a colourway name nobody else uses, a typo.

Cut it back to what a buyer would type, press Refresh, and watch what the sample count does. If it jumps and the median steadies, the phrase was the problem.

Do not widen it to get a bigger sample

The temptation is to strip words until plenty of results appear. That is how you get back to the poisoned median, just with more confidence attached to it.
